The SNCB app offers a complete view of all public transportation information in Belgium. The multimodal travel planner calculates the fastest door-to-door journey, optionally with GPS. Bus, metro and train departure schedules are readily available and train information is always given in realtime. Departure and arrival schedules also can be consulted for a station of your choice. Another option is to search on train number. Furthermore, network disturbances are available in realtime, reminders can be set for each stop of your choice, and you have the possibility to receive alerts when your train is delayed.
The app also offers the possibility to buy a ticket, to save travel schedules in your calendar and/or to share them with others via e-mail, sms or Twitter.
When downloading you will be asked to give your permission to activate certain services the app features:
o GPS position: through geolocalisation you can find the nearest station
o Calendar: you can save a travel itinerary in your calendar
o Contacts:
• you can purchase a Mobile ticket for one of your phonebook contacts
• you can share your journey with others via sms, e-mail, Twitter
o Push messages: be automatically informed when your train is delayed
Payment for a Mobile Ticket can be made by credit card (VISA, Master Card, American Express), PayPal, Bancontact, KBC or Belfius via the protected servers of Ingenico Payment Services. If you wish, you can save the credit card details after a first purchase in order to complete future purchases more quickly. In this case you will only need to enter your security code (CVC) to finalize the next purchases.

This app can only be used by those having a Belgian resident card and a Belgian phone number. The former it doesnt tell you anywhere in the app (maybe in the small print general terms and conditions, who ever reads them...). Therefore it is completely useless if you want to use it for the Brussels airport train. 7,80euro wasted plus an argument with the on board controlleur on the train. One star for this instransparency. It should be clear for the user beforehand that you need to have a Belgian resident card.
I used the app for 2,5 years and I liked it. It was possible to use it for public transport in and arround Brussels, not inly for trains. Especially since the STIB app dies not allow routing. However, for some time now it shows nonsense for Brussels. Indicated stops are not part of the line used. The destination stop can be found, but the results show suddenly a different destination. It looks like the related database keys are corrupted. De-installation and re-installation dies not help.
Do not trust this application. Frequent errors on the schedules...
Dont update to 2.1 - doesnt work after that.
